Alanna works with health and safety professionals as well as organisations to come to human-centred outcomes and LOVES what she does. As a working mum to three little humans, she brings realistic, values driven conversations to life!

Dr Sherrilyn Mills
HSE Global

Dr Sherrilyn Mills has been involved in Workers’ Compensation, Injury Management, Vocational Rehabilitation and Occupational Health and Safety since 1997. Sherrilyn has a Master’s in Occupational Health and Safety, Bachelor of Commerce with a Double Major in Human Resource Management, and Industrial Relations and PHD at Curtin University.  Sherrilyn’s research investigated individual, organisational, and psychosocial factors that prevent return to work and result in long duration workers’ compensation claims.     


Sherrilyn has predominantly worked as a consultant with a broad spectrum of businesses including government, oil and gas, mining, transport, construction, labour hire, health and education and general industry. As a consultant to a variety of national companies, her services predominantly included auditing, development and implementation of management system, workers’ compensation
and injury management advice and the implementation of corporate safety programs to facilitate cultural change.

Phoebe Gane
National Executive for Safety & Compliance | WSP Australia

Helen Goudy boasts 20 years in the Health, Safety, Environment, and Compensation industry. Her journey from Melbourne, where she excelled academically and in cycling, led to military service. A devoted mother of four, she transitioned from part-time work to a full-time role as the Regional HSE Manager at Komatsu, earning recognition for her innovative safety initiatives. Now, in the National HSSE Komatsu Team, she strives for ISO45001 certification by 2025 under the leadership of Henrietta Jukes, General Manager of Safety and Sustainability.

With a background in civil engineering and contaminated land, Phoebe entered the safety field from a somewhat unconventional route, but greatly enjoys the diverse and stimulating challenges it presents. Over her career as a people leader and operational manager, she has led numerous national and regional teams of health & safety professionals, fire safety engineers, occupational hygienists, hazardous materials specialists, and environmental scientists.

Monica Nwosu

Dr Thuthula Balfour | Department of Mineral Resources and Energy’s Mine Health and Safety Committee Member

Monica Nwosu is a highly qualified and experienced Management System Consultant & Coach, holding certifications as a Professional Scrum Master, Business Process Analyst, Project Manager, and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. With a postgraduate degree and MBA in Business and Technology, she is currently pursuing a PhD in Environmental Management and Sustainability. Monica is also dedicated to mentoring and coaching the next generation of professionals in safety and management systems.

Dr. Balfour is a highly qualified medical doctor and public health medicine specialist with extensive management experience spanning 34 years, including 21 at a strategic level and 15 in the mining industry. She holds an MBA and a Diploma in Occupational Health. Her leadership in the mining industry has resulted in significant improvements in performance monitoring and critical outcomes. She is also actively involved in national health initiatives, including serving on the BUSA Task Team on the National Health Insurance and the South African Health Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19.
